The series 'Something Extraordinary' explores color and word play with vivid pigment on paper. Letters of blurred imperfections nodding to a memory akin to a faded note, an old billboard, a magic 8 ball reply look-alike. A message for the times in-between. A laborious effort of hand-lettering, with the final result being very human and often crooked; the antithesis to an easy and quick digital reproduction.
More than anything this series brings together my two career paths, a former graphic designer, and always artist. Both often asked to reproduce, yet originally. Such a dual request with invisible boundaries, the optimism in the words of this series are as much an affirmation and reminder to myself as they are for the viewer.
