JACKIE JONES

Jackie Jones is an artist and muralist living in Austin, Texas. Medium of choice are oil paints, charcoal, and gouache. Her artwork is rooted in the spirit of celebrating color and nature, often taken from her experiences living throughout the southwest, west coast, and pacific northwest—hence, Jones and West. She works out of Canopy (by appointment only).

She holds a BA in Fine Art and Art History from the University of San Diego, and worked in graphic and web design for 11 years collaborating with clients in the art world, retail, beverage industry, and with several large universities across the country. She studied traditional oil painting in Florence, Italy and also (once upon a time) worked as an artisan creating trompe l’oeil and plaster effects in custom homes.

In between studio time and her three kids, she is always designing and renovating her 1940’s home with her very handy husband, Andy. The physical act of creating has become a method and exploration for balance and stillness amidst the chaos of motherhood.
