lUNAR PHASE series

Each date has its own lunar phase. Commission your own charcoal drawing based on the phase of your special date—a beautiful way to tribute an anniversary or birthday.

Charcoal Drawings

Each artwork is hand-drawn to order using charcoal on archival paper. Sized at 18x18" these drawings are set in a white custom mat to fit a 24x30” frame.

your moons

These pieces stand beautifully as one, and also create their own story when paired together. We have the birthday moons of our three children hanging side-by-side in our home, and the story they tell is a unique and personal homage to our little family.

phase changes happen when you reach certain points

The lunar phases are brief but always magnificent. A symbol of yearning, ripeness, mystery, assurance.

Drawing her over and over again has become a meditation in and of time. A practice of simple shape and tones which ultimately reveals itself as our most recognized light guide.

To transition is to become—over and over again.

Choose a date that is special to you (anniversary, birth day, first date, any date at all). I reference the Farmers Almanac to find which lunar phase was on that exact date (past, present, future, the moon is reliable and consistent). You’ll find a place on the order form to include your special date, and I’ll confirm the date and phase with you before I begin to draw.

Find Your
Moon

Since each piece is unique and created to order, it offers an opportunity to add a special note or caption on the white mat just below your moon drawing. If you’d like to include a date/name/location/time/moon phase and/or special phrase on the artwork, you’ll find a place on the order form to include your caption. I hand-write these captions in pen, opposite my signature on the mat.

Your Words

A custom mat is already included in the price of your moon. Each moon artwork is set specially by my hand in its custom sized mat, weighted at the bottom (like a polaroid). The final size of the artwork with mat will fit a 24x30” frame.

I do not providing custom framing services for moons landing outside of Austin. However your custom moon phase drawing with mat can be shipped directly to you, and together we can coordinate how best to frame your piece. Your local frame or art shop will offer the glare-resistant glass (acrylic is not recommended for charcoal, it will pull the pigment off the artwork- so easy ship and frame options like FrameBridge or Simply Frame will not work in this case).

If you are local in Austin (hi!) let’s chat framing upon placing your order. I really love delivering a final product ready to hang on your wall and would love to facilitate that with you for an additional service fee. This will include the cost of the specialty glare-resistant glass, the wood frame (we’ll discuss options), and the actual service of framing the piece. This service is an additional cost to be charged after your checkout. There is a place on the order form to select if you are interested in having your work framed, and we will talk through your options together once your order has been processed.

Mat and Frame

If you are in Austin, personal delivery or pickup at the studio (Canopy 916 Springdale Rd.) can be coordinated, it’s my favorite part of working on a piece—sharing it with you in person! Upon checkout please select the option for Local Pickup/Delivery.

If you are elsewhere in the contiguous United States, I will ship your moon and mat using FedEx. Shipping is an additional flat-rate of $100 per order (up to 2 moons can be shipped together at the same rate), shipping fees are applied upon checkout.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for each moon to be created, and an additional 1-2 weeks for framing and/or shipping. I try to work as quickly as possible without compromising the artwork. Since this is such a personal piece, I want to honor the work and process to give it the proper time needed so you can enjoy it for many moons (hah) to come.
